Those in Suwanee with real Christmas trees can participate in the upcoming Bring One for the Chipper program.
The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation will be organizing an event where Suwanee locals can donate their used Christmas trees after the holiday season is finished. Bring One for the Chipper is a program that gives dying Christmas trees a new purpose by taking the recycled mulch and using it for public beautification projects, like spreading the mulch across community parks. All decorations, lights, and stands must be removed from the trees before being brought to the recycling site.
The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation is a state affiliate of the Keep America Beautiful organization that balances economic development with protecting and maintaining the environment. The group has several initiatives, such as ending litter, reducing waste, and promoting recycling. The foundation collected 2.7 million pounds of litter this year and has cleaned 645 miles of local waterways.
The Bring One for the Chipper program will be held from December 26 to January 7 at Sims Lake Park. Adults and teens interested in becoming a volunteer for the event can contact Nicole Schnepper at nschnepper@suwanee.com. Volunteers will help people with unloading Christmas trees during the event. Foundations that organize recycling events such as this may use flyer printing services to increase public awareness of the programs.
