Two races will be held in Suwanee this February to support the Suwanee Public Arts program.
The 9th Annual Suwanee Half Marathon and Old Town 5k is an event where people can show their appreciation for the arts by competing against other racers. Both races will begin in front of the Suwanee Town Center. Those who compete in the half marathon will pass by local landmarks such as Suwanee Creek Park and George Pierce Park. Competitors in the 5K will run throughout Old Town Suwanee and pass by the community’s water tower.
The Suwanee Public Arts program helps improve the quality of life of residents by distinguishing the town as an artful destination, attracting talented artists to the community, and supporting a diverse economy. The city’s Public Arts Commission acquires art to display locally and develops other art programs like the Suwanee SculpTour. The organization also created the Art for All Capital Campaign to raise funds for purchasing three new public art pieces for a local park.
The races will take place on Sunday, February 19 from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. Registration for the half marathon will cost athletes $75, and the price of the 5K is $40. The first 250 runners to complete the half marathon will receive a blanket and a finishers medal. Communities that host running events like this may use banner printing to promote their activities.
