The AARP will host a class in January at George Pierce Park in Suwanee that teaches people safe driving strategies.
The AARP Smart Driver Course™ is a program where students can improve their driving skills and learn from an experienced instructor. The presenter for the course is Karen Garner. The program is intended primarily for seniors, though drivers of any age can participate in the event. Students are asked to bring their own lunches and writing utensils to the class. Those who complete the program may qualify for a discount on their auto insurance.
People may also take the AARP Smart Driver Course™ online instead. The virtual version of the class is self-paced and teaches students about many subjects. The topics covered in the program include how medication can impact driving skills, the proper use of seat belts and airbags, and strategies for reducing driver distractions. The class also teaches participants about the physical changes a person experiences with age and the adjustments seniors need to make when driving.
The driver course will take place on Saturday, January 27th from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Those interested in the course can call (678) 277-0910 to register. Discounts are available to people who are members of the AARP. Organizations holding safety programs like this may use printing services to make marketing materials for their workshops.
