Summer camp to teach basics of rowing

The Atlanta Juniors Rowing Association will give rowing lessons for beginners. The program started in June and will continue throughout July.

Lessons are co-ed and are geared to teenagers from grades 7 to 12. Each session will take place over a week, and students will stay at a camp by the Chattahoochee River in Roswell. While at the campsite, everyone will learn the fundamentals of rowing while building their fitness. Once students have developed the essential skills needed, they will finish the week by rowing a boat with their teammates.

AJRA will have their facilities by the campsite, which provides boats and all necessary rowing supplies. The organization also has other products for rowers, including clothes and accessories with the organization’s Logo Design.

Sessions will be available throughout July, with each running from Monday to Friday. Entrants can sign up for sessions separately, and each costs $165. Students can also choose to start each day at either 7:30 AM or 10:00 AM. Lessons will run for two hours, and students are encouraged to bring athletic wear and water bottles. Entrants can find the campsite at 245 Azalea Drive.

For more experienced rowers, AJRA has lessons that provide a flexible schedule to practice and hone one’s skills. Anyone looking to partake in advanced lessons must have previously participated with AJRA’s novice or varsity squads.
