Roswell to choose top chili champs

Enjoying a steaming hot bowl of chili can be a great way to take off the autumn chill, and Roswell will be saluting its top chili champs with a special upcoming event.

The Historic Roswell Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off is set to give community members the chance to show off their favorite chili recipes, and restaurants and businesses will also be taking part. Both individual and family tickets are available, and Oak Street Bottle Shop will be the location for the culinary competition.

The activity will see competitors go head to head, and each will need to supply at least one gallon of chili for sampling. They are asked to submit their dish in one category, with options being the hottest, best and best presentation. Both amateur and professional food service insiders are welcome to compete. Those taking part will need to provide a heat source, as well as a weighted tent, table and seating.

While the “weekend warrior” chili cooks may sign on just for the fun of it and to show off their talents, the businesses that register will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to connect with the public. They will be able to distribute coupons, advertising sheets and other promotional materials that could be prepared by a flyer printing company.

The first annual Historic Roswell Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off will be throwing down on October 24th. The proceeds from the day will support various local community service projects undertaken by the Kiwanis Club.
