Roswell road to be closed for improvements

Roswell drivers will soon have to find different routes to use to and from work, and for running errands.

According to a June 15, 2015 news item, a large part of Old Roswell Road will soon shut down for reconstruction.

The stretch of road that will close runs from just south of Founders Parkway/Hembree Park Drive, to Old Ellis Road/Sanctuary Parkway. The road is being closed so a construction project can be completed that will improve draining and travel conditions. At the same time, a new development is being built just north of Ellis Road, adjacent to Old Roswell Road. During the road closure, a roundabout will be built at the development's entrance.

The entire road will be shut down, instead of leaving a lane open in each direction. This will allow the contractor to finish the job and reopen the road sooner. The city suggests that drivers follow the detour it has suggested. The road will be closed for a month, from July 6 to August 6.

Although they have suggested an alternate route, Roswell officials might want to consider working with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents that gives a timeline for the construction. In addition to the one detour suggested, they could list other alternate routes, and include a map to make it easy for drivers to find these potential detours.
