Roswell is offering a program that will give residents an in-depth look at the way the city's departments work, and is inviting people to apply for the classes.
The course is known as the City of Roswell Education and Engagement (CORE) Community program, and is aimed at familiarizing attendees with the activities, challenges, goals, processes, and policies of the local government. There will be one class each week, from 6.00 pm until 9.00 pm, except for the last class, which will be held in the morning. Participants will have dinner provided to them. Organizers of programs like this can work with Print shops to create course materials.
The classes and departments are as follows:
March 13: Introduction to local government and the Administration Department
March 20: Transportation
March 27: Community development
April 10: Police
April 17: Public works / environment
April 24: Finance
May1: Fire
May 8: Parks, recreation, history, cultural affairs
May 18: Economic development and tourism, with tour and graduation. This class runs 9.00 am until 2.00 pm.
The CORE Community program is open only to business owners and residents of Roswell, is nine weeks long, and is free of charge. There are only 25 spots available, and they are assigned on the basis of first-come, first-served. The last date to apply is February 22, and the application can be found online.
