Getting rid of the Christmas tree is an annual problem for many people, but Roswell has the answer: its ‘Bring One for the Chipper’ effort.

For the 27th year, Roswell is encouraging residents to help ‘Keep Roswell Beautiful’ by recycling their Christmas trees at two specific Home Depots in the city. The Home Depots that are participating are at 1580 Holcomb Bridge Road, which is in the Holcomb Woods Shopping Center, the second is located across from Publix at 870 Woodstock Road.

The recycling project is sponsored by Keep Roswell Beautiful, along with the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, the Davey Tree Expert Company, 11 Alive, and the Home depot. To say thank you for bringing their trees in for recycling, participants will be given a special gift—free mulch from Davey Tree, while supplies last. The mulch is created when the trees are fed into the chipper. The program is held statewide to help reuse the trees. In Roswell last year, over 9,000 trees were recycled.

The date of the recycling is January 6, 2018, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Officials ask that residents drop off their trees on the date of the recycling effort, and not before.

Efforts like this can be enhanced if officials work with a postcard printing company to create cards to be mailed to residents as a reminder of the event.
