Roswell Historical Society annual tour features mix of homes

The Roswell Historical Society's ‘Tour of Homes’ took place in mid-September, exhibiting ‘The Best of Old and New in Roswell’. Attendees were given a chance to look inside both historic and new homes near the Historic District.

The five show homes were located at 1259 Minhinette Drive, 1270 Canton Street, 30 Wood Place, 847 Mimosa Boulevard, and 34 Sloan Street.

The Minhinette Drive home is in the Historic District itself. The home sits on a large lot, and has a brick patio facing east, and an area for grilling.

The Canton Street home is new with construction completed in 2017. The up-to-the-minute dwelling has a master bedroom on the main floor, an outdoor living space, and three additional bedrooms upstairs, where there's also a “teen cave” and a control room to manage the features of this smart home.

At 30 Wood Place, tour guests found a renovated home standing on an older foundation, featuring high ceilings, an open plan, a finished basement, and a master bedroom on the main floor.

The Mimosa Boulevard home was built only recently, but the 34 Sloan Street home dates back to 1853, and was constructed by the Roswell Manufacturing Company to house millworkers' families.

The variety presented—new and old, renovated or original—gave the visitors a taste of the many styles that make Roswell such an intriguing city. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create guides to the structures.
