Roswell goes back a century with December dinner

The Roswell Historical Society is busy getting ready for an important fundraiser, its 2015 Heirloom Holiday Dinner.

The theme of the dinner this year is the ‘Roaring 20’s’, and guests are encouraged to dress in the clothes of the era. Women might put on their pearls and hats and come as “flappers”.

Men’s fashions of the era ran to high-waisted jackets and short trousers that often allowed their socks to show. The decade was glitzy and glamorous, even though Prohibition was in effect.

After dinner, guests will be able to dance the night away. Guests who are not comfortable dressing in the style of the 1920s are welcome to wear traditional evening attire.

Event organizers might consider working with a poster printing company to create a colorful poster advertising the gala. If they include artwork from the era, they will create excitement and could also sell the Posters to raise more money.

The Society’s dinner will start with cocktails at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner at 7:00 pm, in the SOCA Village on December 5. Tickets are $75 each, or $550 for a table of eight. Those who purchase tables will be given a bottle of champagne. Further information is available at the Society.

Money raised will go to fund the Society’s mission of collecting, preserving, sharing, and promoting Roswell’s history.
