What's Happening in Roswell, GA…

The Roswell Fire Department has scheduled two CPR classes for members of the community who wish to learn this lifesaving technique.

The department's instructors will use the Family & Friends CPR Course developed by the American Heart Association. The course is designed for those who do not need to show a CPR course completion card to an employer or potential employer. Instead, it is for almost everyone who just wants to be prepared to help in an emergency, such as babysitters, grandparents, parents, students, and teachers.

The course the department will use teaches adult Hands-Only™ CPR; infant CPR; how to do CPR on a child, with an emphasis on breath technique; using an AED on adults and children; and how to help someone who is choking. People who are familiar with CPR may be surprised by the “hands-only” technique, which eliminates the mouth-to-mouth method.

In order to participate, interested persons must be Roswell residents, and at least 12 years old. Since the classes are limited to 16 students each, people should register soon. The classes are free, and will be held at Fire Station 7 on Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta.

The pair of two-hour classes is set for this Saturday, March 24, at 9:00 am and again at 11:30 am. Interested people can sign up online.

Classes like this can be more effective if organizers work with a poster printing company to create a series of Posters illustrating the techniques used.
