Handcrafted Homes, Inc., which is based in Roswell, has won the prestigious National Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence.

The company was honored for the remodeling work it did for a homeowner in Midtown Atlanta, winning in the Residential Specialty Item over $50,000 category. Handcrafted Homes designed and created a functional and beautiful carving studio for a wood carver out of a garage that was not being used. This is not the first time the project has been honored; in the past the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) gave the project's designers a National Contractor of the Year award.

The Chrysalis Awards, which include 28 different categories of commercial and residential remodeling, were first given out in 1993. Handcrafted Homes' president, Judy Mozen, said she was extremely proud to win the award, particularly because the selections of the winners are made by a panel of writers and editors from some of the nation's finest magazines.

The entries are judged not only on quality of the work and the design's creativity, but the panel also selects those projects they feel consumers will want to read about in home improvement magazines.

Mozen can be particularly proud of the award because this is the first time the company, which has been in business for more than 40 years, has ever designed and built a wood-carving studio.

Awards like this give a company an opportunity to work with a brochure printing company on new materials advertising the organization.
