Plaza in Roswell has new name

A development in Roswell has a new name, a fact revealed a few weeks ago at a Roswell NEXT breakfast, according to an article in the North Fulton Neighbor.

At the event, S.J. Collins Enterprises, a developer, and the Downtown Development Authority updated attendees on the redevelopment of Southern Skillet Plaza. During the breakfast, Dave Schmit, the treasurer of the Downtown Development Authority, mentioned that the plaza was going to be renamed.

The interior design firm Linen & Flax Home, which is based in Roswell and owned by Chaz Easterly, a Roswell resident, teamed up with S.J. Collins to reimagine the plaza. S.J. Collins's Jeff Garrison talked to Easterly, asking if her firm would help with renaming the development, and also create a new logo for it. In order to help Easterly, Garrison described his thinking about the project, which he sees as a modern development, but one with a “flair for history.”

Easterly came up with the name ‘Southern Post’, which she says honors Roswell's history, and at the same time conveys the idea that the new plaza will be a gathering place for the community. She used the resources of the Roswell Historic Society and the city's Visitors Center to learn what people love about Roswell and its history, and used that to inspire her work.
