The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has just started a new route in Roswell, after the organization's Board of Directors voted to add buses to Holcomb Bridge Road. The new route is number 142.
The route begins at the Park & Ride lot at Mansell Road, then goes south on Georgia 400 to Holcomb Bridge Road, where it turns east to River Exchange Drive and Spaulding Drive in Sandy Springs. From there, the route goes back to the Mansell Road parking lot. At the Park & Ride facility, passengers have the option of transferring to other buses, or going to the North Springs Station to catch a train.
Ben Limmer, the assistant general manager of MARTA, says this area of north Fulton County is heavily traveled and badly congested. Adding Route 142 means people have additional options, and taking the bus should take cars off the road and reduce crowding.
Route 142 will only operate during the week, from 5:30 am until 7:30 pm. During the rush hours in the morning and evening, buses will run every half-hour, while during the midday hours, they will operate every 40 minutes. MARTA is putting in new Signs along the route to assist riders.
Changes like this can affect a lot of people, so officials might want to work with a brochure printing company to create a new schedule, and make it available throughout the city.
