What's Happening in Roswell, GA…

Lori Henry, the mayor of Roswell, recently announced the names of those appointed to the East Roswell Economic Action Committee. The announcement was made in mid-December, and includes both stakeholders and residents.

The stakeholders who will serve are Gary Palmer, the City Administrator; Alice Wakefield, the Community Development Director; Steve Stroud of Roswell, Inc.; the Brixmore's Group Ron Buckley; and Trent Perry, from the Downtown Development Authority. Residents are Tim Stevens, Kerstin Sommer-Raza, Stephen Shanahan, Amanda Riepe, Robert Mimms, Andy McGarry, and Bruce Kellogg.

The committee will be working to make recommendations encouraging rebirth in Roswell's east end, and members of the committee will be asked to share information with the rest of the community. Every time the committee meets it will have a chance to educate residents about the city's progress. In addition, elected officials will be providing city resources, though Roswell itself won't be running the committee.

Gary Palmer said he is going to try and schedule a meeting for January, and then work out a schedule of additional meetings. At the first meeting, the committee will discuss its mission, create its charter and bylaws, finalize the meeting location and schedule, and discuss how they can disseminate information to others.

Although Palmer has said he will run the first meeting, officers will be elected at the second, and which time he will turn over the position. Committees like this could use flyer printing to distribute information.
