Actress and singer Terry Burrell, a Broadway veteran who is familiar to audiences throughout the Atlanta area, will be in Roswell soon to kick off the new 2018/2019 LIVE! in Roswell season.
Burrell is known for her performances at the best theatre companies in the Atlanta region, but she has also made a name for herself on Broadway. She was in the original cast of ‘Dreamgirls’, and appeared in ‘Swinging on a Star’; ‘Eubie’; ‘Into the Woods’ (which was Stephen Sondheim’s twisted take on classic fairy tales), and ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’. She also played Julie in ‘Showboat’ in London.
‘Backstage and Other Stories’ is a one-woman show in which Burrell discusses her experiences of her life as a Broadway performer. She will be sharing songs that have been specially arranged to pay tribute to the vocalists who were her inspiration, including Judy Garland, Eartha Kitt, Ethel Waters, Barbra Streisand, and Lena Horne.
Burrell is only the first in a line-up of great shows this season. Others include the Classic Nashville Christmas, Ranky Tank (who blend jazz with traditional Gullah music), and Bluegrass quintet Balsam Range (who will perform along with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra).
