Little Helpers help clean up Roswell

Recently, as part of Roswell's Adopt-a-Road effort, members of Roswell's Little Helpers cleaned up trash along Woodstock Road. Those taking part in the cleanup were from both Roswell and Johns Creek.

Little Helpers is a family volunteer group, meaning that those who take part in project like this are part of the same family. The group schedules projects monthly in which children of every age take part. Little Helpers wants to help youngsters understand how valuable it is to volunteer, to help them understand how they fit into the community, and to feel the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from helping others. The goal of Little Helpers is to raise children who have self-confidence, and who feel giving to others is a normal part of life.

Little Helpers was created in 2010, in Memphis, Tennessee. Today, the organization has chapters throughout the country.

Roswell's Adopt-A-Road effort is sponsored by the city's Public Works/Environmental Department, and is part of an overall effort known as Keep Roswell Beautiful. Cleaning up roads has an immediate and clear effect on the local environment, as the removal of litter is way of instantly improving the appearance of the roads. The department furnishes all the supplies volunteers need to complete their tasks safely.
