What's Happening in Roswell, GA…

The author of a book about an extraordinary man will be in Roswell to discuss her work soon.

Lee Dunn is the author of “Cracking the Solid South, The Life of John Fletcher Hanson, Father of Georgia Tech.” She will be at historic Bulloch Hall to talk about the book, and the man who inspired it. Brochure printing can be used to create programs for events like this.

John Fletcher Hanson was born in 1840 in Monroe County, Georgia, and lived in Macon for the majority of his life. He was an orator as well as a journalist and industrialist, and worked to help the South recover from the Civil War by promoting industry in the South, creating jobs, and advancing opportunities for education. He is also famous as the founder of the Georgia School of Technology, which later became the Georgia Institute of Technology—the famous Georgia Tech.

For more than 20 years, Lee Dunn has researched genealogy, landscape and garden history, and Southern history. She is deeply committed to preserving the cultural landscapes of Georgia.

At this time, the lecture is scheduled for June 2 at 7:00 pm, in Bulloch Hall, which was once home to Mittie Bulloch, Theodore Roosevelt, Junior's, mother. Tickets are $8, or $4 for members of Bulloch Hall. Those thinking of attending should check with the venue for any changes in scheduling.
