What's Happening in Roswell, GA…

The work to overhaul South Atlanta Street in Roswell has started, affecting motorists on the drive. However, with Print companies and sign makers likely to be undertaking a whole raft of projects to keep drivers informed, it will not be all bad news for Roswell folk.

The plans for the 'Historic Gateway' will see Ga. 9 run all the way from the town square, right across to the Chattahoochee River. At the moment, it is largely just a single lane in both directions, with around 30,000 cars making the route every day.

The city's transport director, Steve Acenbrak, has said the stretch is “antiquated and hazardous” in its current state. The road will soon see two lanes on either side, together with a center median and sidewalks and bike paths.

There would also be significant changes to the intersection with Azalea and Riverside. The plans dictate the construction of a new bridge, under which Azalea would pass, meeting at a roundabout leading to a new intersection further north.

The plans, said to be a 'regional project', will also see a small loss of land to the national park but this will be mitigated somewhat through park improvements, such as increased car parking and the creation of more trails.
