What's Happening in Roswell, GA…

The Roswell City Council recently gave the green light to a zoning change allowing the repurposing of a SuperTarget into a multi-use project.

The council members voted 3-2 to allow the effort to go ahead, although this is the second time developers have brought their ideas to the city. Earlier this year, The Worthing Companies presented a plan that would have included 75,000 square feet of space for commercial activities; 350 apartments located in five separate buildings; and 76 town homes. This initial plan was not agreed upon, so the council agreed to give the developers two weeks to revise their plans.

The developer returned to the table with significant changes to their first concept. They have added an additional story to one of the apartment buildings, raising it to four stories to make room for offices. Two stories of the building will be devoted to live-work units, while the rest will be family housing. Brochure printing is often used to illustrate the amenities of projects like this.

There is no longer any parking on the primary open space, and streets planned to border that area have been removed, adding more green space. Parallel parking will be available along the main road, and the sidewalk near Holcomb Bridge will be increased in width to eight feet while the streets are narrowed.

Although the council has voted in favor of the project, the mayor could still veto it, and a decision is pending.
