Construction is an important field, and buildings and homes require inspections before they can be occupied.

An upcoming conference will focus on the issues commonly discovered by agents when they inspect projects. The course, “New Construction: What to Expect,” is three hours in length, is open to all agents, and offers CE credits.

Among the topics that will be discussed are the various phases of a new construction project, and how a framing inspection can help resolve issues with the structure before construction is finished. Also on the agenda are the current requirements in Georgia for contractors and builders; safety concerns; new building materials; new types of pressure treated wood; Hardiplank; electrical safety; new varieties of flashing; and much more.

The course will briefly discuss mandatory state codes in contrast to permissive codes, the reasons why counties different from each other, and why home inspectors should not quote code in conjunction with reselling homes.

Code enforcement will be discussed, including why the codes are not always implemented. The difference between codes and manufacturer's recommendations will be discussed, and why the recommendations are important in home building. There will be a test about current state codes. Print shops can provide materials for classes like this.

BPG Inspections will be teaching the class, which will be held at the HomeSmart Learning Center on Dogwood Road. At this time, the event is scheduled for June 10, from 11.00 am until 2.00 pm. Interested parties should monitor the venue for any changes in scheduling.
