Roswell will be hosting its first ever Pound Cake Cook-Off as part of the ‘Roswell Roots: A Festival of Black History and Culture’ event.
Taking place at East Roswell Recreation Center, the event is free, with many families expected to attend.
There are two categories, for professional bakers and amateur enthusiasts, with a winner in each one. The prize winning cakes are being overseen by celebrity judge Tracey West from Irresistible Pound Cakes.
There will be a People’s Choice Award as well. Everyone heading along to the show will be urged to taste the offerings of the competitors, and then vote on their favorite. Whoever gets the most votes will take the people's title.
Anyone over the age of 12 can enter the competition, either as part of a group or by themselves. Applications can be made online, but it is important that all entrants thoroughly check the rules and regulations for competition entry. Perhaps most crucial is the rule that there must be enough pound cake for about 200 bite-sized sampling portions.
One of the largest celebrations of black history in the south eastern U.S., Roswell Roots will this year feature 28 different events throughout February.
The cook-off takes place this Saturday, February 14, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. No doubt Print companies will be getting poster and banner printing together to showcase the event.Get a Free Quote for Print
