McDonough to host annual springtime festival

Next month, McDonough’s yearly Geranium Festival is scheduled to return to the community.

This longtime, traditional event was originally hosted in 1977 under the name of the Henry County Chamber Arts and Crafts Festival. In 1980, the Lions Club of McDonough became the primary organizer of the festival.

In 2020, the Geranium Festival was cancelled due to the pandemic. This year, the rescheduled Geranium Festival is planned to take place in McDonough again with all necessary health precautions in place, such as keeping vendor booths at a sufficient distance apart.

Booths will showcase local McDonough goods and services, including arts and crafts, food, and business services. Participating vendors will be offered the chance to join an online marketplace on the official event website to promote their goods prior to the Geranium Festival.

Even if the in-person event cannot go forward this year, the virtual marketplace will still take place. To participate virtually only, vendors can register for $30. To take part in both the online and physical versions of the festival, attendance is priced at $150 each with $100 extra for any additional booth spaces. When sellers present services and goods at such festivals, they often choose banner printing to highlight their booths with visually stunning decorations.

The Geranium Festival is set to begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 15 and conclude at 5:00 pm.
