Plant City pre-schoolers offered seats in swim class

With so many lakes, ocean beaches, and pools all within easy reach, it makes a lot of sense for Plant City kids to know how to swim, and those who take part in an upcoming course will be able to hit the water with confidence.

The preschool swim program on offer at the Plant City YMCA will teach kids the basics of swimming, starting with water safety and going on from there. Swimmers with more experience will work on their strokes and other skill development.

The instruction is intended for children from ages three to five. While the newbies learn to be comfortable in and around the water and are taught basic self-rescue and other skills, the more advanced learners will be encouraged to increase their endurance. They will be taught the front and back crawl, as well as basic breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly kicks, and also how to tread water.

It was explained in the listing that the classes will be led by certified swim instructors. Certificates of completion, badges, and other items that recognize the accomplishments of the kids who take part in learning activity can be sourced from a local printing services company that performs graphic design work.

The first of the preschool swim lessons will be held at the Plant City Family YMCA on September 20. The course will conclude on October 6.
