Plant City plans luncheon fundraiser

Plant City is making plans to host and “empty bowl” event next month.

This style of fundraiser collects money to help support feeding programs while also drawing attention to the issue of hunger in the community. The 11th annual Plant City Empty Bowls Project will see local artisans and others join with the general public to raise funds for the United Food Bank of Plant City. Lunch will be served at The Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum, and the community is strongly encouraged to get involved.

Tickets for the meal are $10, and each person who purchases one will be able to choose their bowl, which will then be filled with a hearty soup. They will also receive an apple and some freshly baked bread, and they will get to keep the vessel when they are done. The bowls will be created by area artisans and students, and have been donated to the cause.

A poster printing company will be able to create a variety of marketing materials for this sort of fundraiser, and it can prepare Books of soup recipes to sell during the function as well. These may be sold to the attendees to help with the fundraising event.

The Plant City installment of the Empty Bowls Project will be serving up hot meals on November 13. The doors will open for lunch at 11:00 am.
