Planting a garden can be a real investment in the future, and a Plant City workshop will offer help to gardeners when it comes to their horticultural endeavors.
The team at UF/IFS Extension Polk County provides the public with a wide assortment of learning sessions, and one of these that will be held in early October will investigate the benefits of native plants. This will include tips for plant ID, which will make it easier for the attendees to distinguish the “roses from the weeds,” as gardeners say.
The activity, which is being presented by its hosts thanks to additional support from Lakeland Water Utilities, will include a guided tour of a local native planting garden, and there is enough room in this portion of the activity to accommodate 10 people. The presentation itself will take place in a picnic shelter located in Loyce Harpe Park. Handouts are often distributed during an educational event, and these can be prepared by local Stationery printers.
In an effort to make this program accessible, the organizers say accommodations may be available as long as the planners are informed at least 10 days ahead of time by calling 863-519-1041.
This introduction to the benefits of choosing native flora is on the way for October 6. It will be held at 300 West Carter Road in Mulberry.
