Florida Strawberry Festival comes round once again

The Florida Strawberry Festival is a very popular one throughout the state, drawing visitors from all over Florida, as well as internationally. The festival began in 1930 and was briefly stopped during World War II, starting up again in 1948 and continuing until today. It was developed to celebrate the large strawberry harvest in the area. Organizers no doubt work closely with local printing companies to help spread the word of the festival.

This year's festival will feature several concerts from such artists as Hunter Hayes, Chubby Checker, Foreigner, Alan Jackson, and Blake Shelton, with each concert carrying a separate admission price. The festival also features a midway with carnival rides, a Queen and her court, a Kiddie Korral featuring such activities as racing pigs, kiddie rides, and a baby parade, vendors and food concessions. In addition, the Neighborhood Village will feature arts and crafts and various competitions for prizes and ribbons. Some of the competitions taking place this year include cake decorating, baking, food preservation, and quilts. There will definitely be something for every member of the family at the festival, and no doubt plenty of strawberries to sample.

The Florida Strawberry Festival will take place at the Festival Grounds from February 28 to March 10. Gate admission is $8 for adults in advance or $10 at the gate, and $4 for children aged 6-12 in advance or $5 at the gate. There is an extra cost for concerts and midway rides.
