Palm Coast to offer nature walk

The Guano Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM Research Reserve) is presented a river-to-sea preserve trail and marineland beach walk in a couple of weeks.

The GTM Research Reserve was established in 1999 and is on 76,760 acres of land along the Matanzas, Tolomato, and Guano rivers. Its focus is to conserve natural biodiversity and cultural resources through research, education, and governance.

The nature walk features an interpretive guide that will educate attendees about the trees, plants, and how Native Americans used these to make food, beverage, tools, and medicine.

The event is free but those interested in attending are required to register online. Children may take part, but strollers should be equipped with all-terrain wheels. The walk takes place in a tree-covered trail to the Matanzas River. The area may experience unpredictable weather, so participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bug repellent, reusable water bottle, sunscreen, binoculars, and a camera are strongly recommended.

The GTM Research Reserve is also accepting donations to support the program. Brochure printing is a great way for event organizers and educational facilities to provide information about this sort of event.

The event will be on Wednesday, May 11 at 9805 North Ocean Shore Boulevard in Palm Coast, Florida 32137. Call (904) 823-4500, visit the registration website, or email education@gtmnerr.org for more information regarding this event.
