Palm Coast outing to visit local bird habitat

Palm Coast residents who enjoy the pastime of birdwatching are invited to join in a local outing.

Hulett Swamp is set to welcome an excursion organized by the Flagler Audubon Society, and among the species participants can expect to see are northern bobwhites, loggerhead shrikes, meadowlarks, wrens, sparrows, and bobolinks. There is no activity fee being charged to take part, and everyone who comes out is asked to wear a mask to help prevent the spread of Covid.

The site offers a variety of habitats for birds and other animals, and while some of it is swampy, there is still lots of dry land for visitors to walk on. The group will use both paved and gravel paths, so it has been pointed out that site may not be readily accessible for those who require a mobility device. Everyone is strongly advised to wear comfortable shoes they are happy to get dirty.

Organized outings give anyone who is new to a hobby an opportunity to learn from those with plenty of experience. Copies of species checklists as well as promotional Pens may be crafted to hand out to the attendees by area Print shops.

The Flagler Audubon Society will be leaning this excursion to Hulett Swamp on December 13. The scheduled start time for the activity is 10:00 am.
