Once the holidays have been and gone, Palm Coast residents will be able to dispose of their holiday tree in a way that is kind to the environment.
The city has made arrangements to offer a drop-off holiday tree recycling program, and those who wish to take advantage of this can also drop off household documents for secure shredding. These are both on offer at no cost, and the chipped wood and bark will be used for beautification projects.
Anyone who would like to recycle their holiday tree is asked to make all decorations, lights and tinsel have been removed ahead of time. Each household that takes part will receive a free tree to plant in the location of their choice. These evergreens will be potted up in three-gallon containers, and anyone with questions is asked to contact 386-986-3722. The collection point will be open to the general public for five hours.
It was noted that the trees will be chipped for use as mulch at various plantings throughout the city. Many event organizers choose to order Banners featuring a customized graphic design to help attract public attention, and these will be available at area banner printing shops.
Palm Coast will be offering this recycling service on January 8 from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. The collection station will be set up at the Palm Cast Fuel Depot located at 22 Utility Drive.
