This April, Central Park in Town Center will be the site of the Palm Coast’s Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk with the proceeds being earmarked for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
A nonprofit, the Foundation was formed in honor of Stephen Siller by his brother Frank Siller. Stephen, a Brooklyn firefighter was one of the 343 first responders who died at the New York City World Trade Center. Siller’s truck became stuck in traffic inside the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel on September 11, 2001, on his way to help at the Twin Towers. Getting out of his truck, Stiller ran the rest of the way through the tunnel to the towers, dressed in full bunker gear, explaining the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s name.
This year will be the city’s 4th Tunnel to Towers 5k Run/Walk. Almost $50,000 was raised from the previous three events. All money from the event goes to the Tunnel to Tower Foundation. Registration for the event is now open. The Foundation has raised more than $500 million since it was formed just a few weeks after 9/11.
Banner printing services provide an effective means of promoting events.
The Foundation has taken as its mission to provide mortgage-free homes to fallen first responders and veterans. The organization has funded the creation of 10 Homeless Veterans Villages throughout the country, two of which are in Florida. Eleven new villages are planned, including two more in Florida.
The 5K Run/Walk takes place April 26.
