Palm Coast Fire Station 26 under construction

Construction of the future Fire Station 26 in Palm Coast is now officially underway with a recent groundbreaking taking place for a fire station that will be dedicated exclusively to the Quail Hollow and Seminole Woods areas.

The new station will be the first built here in almost 20 years and is expected to handle about 2,900 calls for an estimated 7,010 households per year. The Palm Coast Fire Department has since June 2023 been supplying primary fire protection to residents in these neighborhoods by operating from the Flagler County Fire Station 92 on Airport Road.

Banner printing services are often used at construction sites to identify projects.

Response times from the department’s temporary location to residents of the two communities is from 7 to 15 minutes depending on the location with the longer response times occurring for calls from the deeper locations in Seminole Woods. The new station, located at 72 Airport Commerce Center Way, is expected to have response times of six minutes or less for more than 90 percent of the area.

In addition to the peace of mind quicker response times afford residents, there will be a monetary benefit as well. Insurance rates will drop with an expected change from 3/3X to 2.0, which will align with the overall 2.0 ISO rating for Palm Coast.

The new 10,000-square-foot station will house a six-bay apparatus bay and living quarters for the firefighters and is expected to take 12 months to complete.
