Melbourne issues callout for Coastal Cleanup

The annual International Coastal Cleanup is seeking volunteers in the town of Melbourne.

The Cleanup is a united effort by conservationists and community members who are concerned by the garbage deposits along their coastlines. The parties will focus on areas such as the Melbourne Causeway and the Eau Gallie Causeway. Participation is open to all residents, provided they register beforehand. Resources for each target location is distributed based on the number of volunteers. Those who do not register may not have the opportunity to participate.

Patrons may also support the cause by purchasing T-Shirts of the event. The shirts will feature the event’s logo on the front, as well as the sponsoring company’s logo on the back. Proceeds from the sales will go towards the funding for the resources necessary for the event. Organizers advise that the volunteers dress appropriately for the terrain, which may have boulders or other hazards, and to bring their own food and water. For sharp objects, or picking up garbage, they should also bring gloves.
