Lutz jewelry maker to offer date night alternative

Lutz couples who are looking for a date night that is a little bit different to a dinner out have been invited to add a local jewelry-making workshop for two to their agenda.

Dan Balk, who is an area goldsmith, will be working with couples to guide them through a session where they will each make a piece of sterling silver jewelry to give to one another. Balk will lead them through the entire process, and they will be invited to use the opportunity to explore their creative sides.

All the students in the class will be able to personalize the item they craft, and they can choose between a ring and a pendant. Those who would like to add a gemstone to their piece will be welcome to do so at an additional fee. At the end of the session, the coupes will be welcome to enjoy a glass of wine or champagne along with chocolate and fruit.

While they work, the couples will learn about the basics of shop safety as well as design and hand fabrication. Signs and other items for the location where an event like this will be held can be provided by a poster printing company.

The jewelry making class has been scheduled for June 30, and other dates are also available. It will be held at 1418 Julie Lagoon in Lutz.
