It times of emergency, having community members who are well prepared and ready to act can make a big difference in how a city weathers the storm. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) initiative works to give individuals the tools they need to help themselves or others in a disaster, and one of its training sessions has been scheduled for this summer.
The students who participate in the three days of training will learn skills and techniques they can put to use in their own household, and these can also be used to help their neighbors, co-workers, and wider community. There is no cost to get involved, and those who complete all three days will be presented with a FEMA CERT Basic Training certificate.
These Lutz area classes will cover a variety of topics, and the learners can expect to find out about first aid, triage, fire suppression and safety, light search and rescue, and other subjects. Once they have completed the course, they will be able to put their new skills to use to help their community.
Those who are interested in registering for this opportunity are reminded that they will need to complete all three days of training to receive their certification. Stationery printers can prepare certificates, manuals, and other materials for this type of occasion.
