There are many challenges that are unique to military families, and those in Lutz who are interested in learning more about how they can provide support in the classroom may wish to participate in an upcoming day of learning.
The Military Child education Coalition has developed a one-day course that will explore the issues that may be faced by children in a family where a parent is transitioning from serving in the military. They will address these challenges from the perspective of a child who has a mother, father, or caregiver who is retiring, leaving the military due to a combat injury or illness, or who has been a casualty.
Part of the seminar will be dedicated to helping those who take part to develop strategies for use in the home, classroom, or professional setting to aid children, youth, and the whole family during this time of transition. Thanks, in part, to the support of MacDill AFB and the United States Air Force, there will be no fee charged to participate. Presentation Folders and other handouts for this type of function can be prepared by a local printer.
This daylong event has been set to take place in the Sheraton Tampa East Hotel on March 1. It will start at 8:00 am, and more information can be obtained by anyone who is interested through the Military Child Education Coalition’s website.
