“Beyond Words: Celebrating Books as Art” will be presented by Florida CraftArt in St. Petersburg starting this month. Residents of nearby Largo will not want to miss this special event.
Poster printing can be used throughout the area to inform residents of such exhibits and to garner enthusiasm for them throughout the community.
The exhibition is juried and will showcase fine handcrafted pieces by 36 artists from Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. The curator of the exhibit, Cindy Bartisek, said that the exhibit celebrates books as art, with a wide selection of innovative works challenging what people think of and perceive as a book. Bartisek added that artists can see a book as a way to combine text, images, and various formats to explore many topics ranging from poetry to politics, and from narratives that are deeply personal to more whimsical themes.
Sponsorships from the city of St. Petersburg, Elizabeth Reillinger, and the Florida Department of State Division of Arts and Culture are making this exhibit possible. Among the exhibitors are June Colburn from Largo, Bonnie Bruner from Lake Worth, Kathy Wood from Port Charlotte, and Judy Flescher from Palm Beach Gardens, in addition to many artists from St. Petersburg.
Florida CraftArt is located on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg and is open seven days a week. The exhibit opens this Friday, June 10, and runs through Saturday, July 30.Get a Free Quote for Books
