November is the time when the public can vote for their preferred businesses in Largo, as the city sponsors the ‘Best of Largo’ contest.
Part of Small Business Month, the contest is being hosted by the Largo Leader. There are four categories in which to name a business: service providers, retail, office, and restaurants. A paper ballot can be mailed to the newspaper or dropped off at its offices in Seminole. Alternatively, people can vote online.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 19, at 5:00 pm. Any business based in Largo is eligible and people can vote as many times as they wish. Company owners can also vote for their own businesses.
In the November 27 edition of the Largo Leader, the winners will be announced and the owners of the four winners will take part in an interview in for a December edition, leading to an individual story on their business.
According to Teresa Brydon, the city economic development manager, this is the first year the contest is taking place and it is hoped that the awards from the contest and the celebrations throughout the month will grow every year, develop awareness of the small businesses in Largo, and attract more customers.
