Largo unveils innovative playground design

A new playground has been opened at the Highland Recreation Complex in Largo.

Landscape Structures has created its Hedra model, which has a geometric configuration with interconnected slides, towers, and climbing structures, along with futuristic pods to encourage exploration among kids of many ages. Greg Wright, assistant superintendent of parks and recreation, said that many families have shown interest in the innovative design, which cost $380,000. fourth of such playgrounds in the country.

Wright said that this is only the fourth of such playgrounds in the country, and that it is designed to create different adventures for kids every time they turn up. Feedback from some of the children who have experienced it suggests they enjoy the design and see it as futuristic.

Wright added that the location of the playground is ideal, being just outside of the center of town. He said it has plenty of shade and is surrounded by woods. There is one shelter already positioned close to it, and another is planned for the near future.

The playground is open seven days a week with extended hours during the weekdays from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm Poster printing is often used to promote ideas like this throughout the community.

Although the playground is already open, it is hoped that there will be an official ribbon-cutting ceremony next month.
