The Prudential Spirit of Community Award has named Sean Schrader, a senior from Largo High School, as a Distinguished Finalist. This is in recognition of his volunteer work in Pinellas County with the YMCA of the Suncoast.
Schrader’s days of volunteering at YMCA began when he was a student at the Largo Middle School. During the summer months he volunteered, at Camp Lagoon in Indian Rocks Beach, and during the school year in the after-school program. Poster printing can be used to raise awareness in the community of young people and their contributions to the community.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is the United States’ biggest program that recognizes the volunteer efforts of the youth. Among those who are able to select a member or student for a local award are all private and public middle and high schools in the country, in addition to YMCAs, county 4-H organizations, Girl Scout councils, and American Red Cross Chapters.
There is an independent judging council that reviews the nominees, after which distinguished finalists and state honorees are selected based on specific criteria, including personal growth, impact, effort, and personal initiative.
Prudential Financial partners with the National Association of Secondary School Principals to conduct the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. This is the 24th year of giving out these awards.
