The 6th annual Chinese New Year celebration is taking place in Largo next month, presented by the Suncoast Association of Chinese Americans (SACA).
This year, China is celebrating the Year of the Dog.
The festival is set to feature traditional Chinese foods and cultural performances, , the lion dance and other traditional dances, Martial arts demonstrations will be given by local groups and Chinese craft activities are offered for people of all ages.
Children’s activities will be available with the purchase of a wristband. These will include bounce houses, games, and crafts. In addition, arts and crafts vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of handmade items such as jewelry, pottery, and paintings, many of which will be Chinese-related.
In past years, there has also been a photo booth that will likely return for this year.
This offers a way for Largo residents to learn more about the Chinese community, or to celebrate their own cultural identity in their new country. To spread the word in the area, organizers often invest in printed materials such as Banners, Flyers, and Booklets prior to celebrations like this.
