Applications are now opened for the 2023 Emerging Artist Grant sponsored by Creative Pinellas.
These awards are opened to those in Largo and the rest of Pinellas County and are designed to help artists who are beginning their careers, are quickly developing, and find that this is a time in their career when such funds would help them further as a professional artist. Poster printing can be used throughout a city and surrounding regions to inform the arts community of such grants and provide details on the application process.
There are 10 artists selected each year for the Emerging Artist Grant program. A grant of $2,000 is given to each artist and each artist works with a mentor specifically chosen for them on a one-on-one basis for the period of the grant. Each artist is also part of the Emerging Artist group exhibition at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas in the spring as well as a virtual gallery exhibit.
A panel of curators and artists selects the recipients of the award based on their work, their commitment to show their work to visitors to and residents of the county, and their vision for the future. Among the disciplines to which grants are awarded include the visual arts, theater and musical theater, literature, and music composition.
Applications are being accepted through Tuesday September 6 and those receiving these grants will be announced on or around Saturday October 8.
