The Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival will be returning to Jacksonville in mid-August. The event will feature Caribbean dance, food, artwork, and parade. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend.
A Caribbean style Mardi Gras parade will begin at noon, where women in colorful plumage attire will sashay through downtown Jacksonville to calypso and soca music. Many bands that have registered will have brightly colored groups accompanying them, such as the KonQwest Band, which will be joined by groups named ‘Phoenix’ in red, ‘Ebbin’ in blue, the yellowed-feathered ‘Budgia’, and the ‘Black Swan’ accompanying it.
DJ Nate will provide the music and the groups will have themes, such as Aztec for the Island Buzz Band and Lucayan for Tropicaya Mas. The 2022 registered guest band will be Classi Waves Mas with a theme of "Celebration.”
The parade will end at Metropolitan Park, 1710 Gator Bowl Boulevard, where the festival will begin. Here, guests can find local and international artists in arts and crafts booths, family fun, a kids’ zone, and business information stalls. A concert on the park’s stage will include DJs, dancers, Caribbean music artists and cultural performances.
