Jacksonville children invited to local art museum

As part of the University of North Florida's homecoming celebration, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville will be hosting a MOCA Fall Family Day in mid-November.

Activities will include creating foam and pool noodle sculptures, designing and constructing superhero masks, playing artsy cornhole, and making free chalk drawings. Many kids will be going on a MOCA scavenger hunt. Music, live performances, and activities such as interactive demonstrations and movement experiences will be provided by local partners.

Local arts and art education organizations will be passing out information about their activities, hours, missions, and locations.

Families may also enjoy viewing the museum's current exhibitions. One will be Art with a Heart in Healthcare: The Art of Music, which will run until January 11, 2026. The Armory South will be a rediscovered exhibition of the 1924 Jacksonville Woman's Club running until November 23, and Muralists in Action will have some bold displays viewable until February 15, 2026. Museums often put events like this in their visitor guide brochure printing.

The event will be open to the public free of charge, and registration will not be required. Street parking is always free at weekends.

MOCA Fall Family Day will be Saturday, November 15 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at 333 North Laura Street. The vendors, performances, and activities will wrap up around 4:00 pm.
