Wilmington museum to host art conference

The Delaware Art Museum will host a Citizen Artist Summit in Wilmington this summer.

The four-day event is intended to discuss and examine the changing role of artists in public life. It will include a variety of activities like evening receptions, live music and a panel discussion about support for artists in Delaware that was part of the New Deal.

The long weekend will begin with a happy hour in the Sculpture Garden on Thursday evening. This will include live music, lawn games, and arts and crafts vendors and two half-hour talks. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from a cash bar and local food trucks. Co-curator Dorthy Fisher will give a gallery presentation of the Citizen Artist exhibit. The evening will be followed by two full days of programming on Friday and Saturday and a town hall-style discussion on Sunday morning.

Registration is open on the museum’s website now. The Full Summit Package is $125 or $100 for museum members. Single-day passes are also available for $65 and $45. The price includes lunch on Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Admission to the museum is also included. Museums often use brochure printing services to provide information about their exhibits.

The Citizen Artist Summit will take place from Thursday, July 9, through Sunday, July 12, at Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington.
