Washington warriors use humor to help heal

Humor can have a lot of healing power, and this is the spirit behind veterans only activity that will soon be taking to the streets of the nation's capital.

Irreverent Warriors uses humor and connection between veterans to promote good mental health, and its Silkies Hikes take place in communities across the country. It has scheduled one for an evening in late March in Washington, and while only veterans and currently serving members of the military, including the National Guard and reservists, may take part, everyone may cheer them on.

While silkies are the official “uniform” for the function, the participants may wear other clothing. Photo IDs are highly recommended, and everyone may wish to bring some spending money. Snacks and hydration may be helpful, and branch, unit and patriotic flags and Banners will be welcome. The restoration fee is $5.00 each plus fees and taxes, but this can be waived for anyone in financial need.

When they sign up for the activity, the hikers will have the option to order Irreverent Silkies branded tees and other gear to wear if they wish. A printer can craft a unique graphic design for an event, and it can be added to the Corporate Gifts and other items used to promote it.

Washington will be welcoming this salute to veteran’s mental health on March 29th. The group will depart from 121 West Basin Drive.
