Washington to get green-fingered this spring

Many houseplant lovers simply can’t get enough “green” into their living space, and a Washington activity in a few months’ time can help both the newbie and experienced plant parent get growing.

Plants Alive! will be running Houseplants 101, which will be open to anyone who feels it is of interest to them. It can serve as both an introductory class or refresher, and the goal is for everyone to walk away with some new knowledge and skills.

The session will cover houseplant care, including how to select and site a species appropriately in the home. Choosing and preparing the soil, proper watering techniques, and other tips will be shared, and the participants will be invited to mingle over a drink and make some new horticultural connections. Tickets are $15 each plus tax, with additional fees also possible if they are bought online.

Houseplants can add life and color to a home, and they can also help to keep the air clean. Stationery printers can prepare sheets of horticultural tips and advice to hand out during a class or other learning session.

This opportunity for Washington residents to hit the ground running when it comes to houseplants will be on offer on May 19. The venue for the afternoon will be Atlas Brew Works Ivy City Brewery & Taproom, and it will start at 2:00 pm.
