Washington auto show to offer a drive back in time

A relic of the Cold War, Trabants are a type of automobile that’s become popular with collectors in recent years, and a Washington rally will be seeing these cars roll in from all across the country.

The Trabant Rally will celebrate these autos that were formerly the workhorses of the East German auto world. The activity is slated for the International Spy Museum, and there will be other makes on display as well.

Car fans as well as those who enjoy learning about history may find the rally interesting, and this will mark its 17th year. Scooters, vans, and other vintage vehicles will all be on display, and visitors to the event will be able to vote for their favorite entry.

The owners will be available to answer questions and provide details about the history of their pride and joy, and live music and a chance to get a taste of what it was like for someone fleeing cold war East Germany are also in the works.

The17th annual Parade of Trabants will be offering a drive back in time on November 4th. It will begin welcoming the public at 10:00 am at 700 L'Enfant Plaza SW in Washington.
