Thompson, known as ‘TJ’, was clipped by another car and hit the wall at the latter event. Cars on the track can reach triple-digit speeds, meaning that TJ totaled the car but, fortunately, came out of the wreck without serious injury.
Recalling the accident, he said:
"I went up and over his right front. As I came down, I hit the back end of the wall."
TJ hopes to make it to NASCAR level racing. His family and peers say he has the talent, focus, and drive to fulfill his dream.
