Norwich student keeps NASCAR dreams despite setback

At the INEX Legend Cars division in mid-May, 18-year-old professional racer Thomas Joseph Thompson placed second, but his luck was out at the Super Saturday Showdown's Speedbowl later in the month.

Thompson, known as ‘TJ’, was clipped by another car and hit the wall at the latter event. Cars on the track can reach triple-digit speeds, meaning that TJ totaled the car but, fortunately, came out of the wreck without serious injury.

Recalling the accident, he said:

"I went up and over his right front. As I came down, I hit the back end of the wall."

TJ hopes to make it to NASCAR level racing. His family and peers say he has the talent, focus, and drive to fulfill his dream. A student at Norwich Technical High School, he drives a 1934 Ford coupe replica. It has a 1250cc engine, boasts a 180 horsepower, and is decorated with blue and white paint.

Thompson and his family may now need to buy new parts for the damaged car. Many businesses send Catalogs to racers and auto enthusiasts, and they often rely on catalog printing companies to make full color pages enticing the consumer to order from the catalog. If TJ continues his success, having connections with the Thompson family through an auto parts business could lead to celebrity promotion and more revenue.
