Norwich event showcases local talent with holiday story

A Norwich event with a number of dates throughout early to late December is giving community members with performance skills a chance to show off with a production of a festive story.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical is an adaptation of the iconic novel by author Charles Dickens. This version has a soundtrack crafted by Alan Menken, with lyrics written by Lynn Ahrens.

Ahrens also worked on the show’s book alongside Mike Ockrent. The story tells viewers about a man’s journey to the discovery that community and kindness are far more important than he previously thought.

This production is courtesy of the Chestnut Street Playhouse, with the location also acting as the venue for the show. The theater’s goals include providing entertainment, performance opportunities, and education about the arts.

The musical will be led by director Lisa Bono, associate director Ciara Rollins, and vocal director Madi Ruta.

Tickets are available through Ludus, with a link available on the venue’s website. Prices, with fees included, are $37.55 for adults and $32.30 for both seniors and students. Flyer printing and poster printing are both popular promotion techniques for theatrical performances.

There are 12 showings for the Norwich production. Nine of these are evening shows at 7:30 pm, with the dates being December 4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, and 20th. Two are 2:00 pm matinees, these being on December 7th and 21st. Finally, one is a 4:00 pm show, on December 14th.
